Small and medium-sized businesses are particularly vulnerable to ransomware because they often don't have the staff or the experience to prepare for or recover from such attacks. But how about home systems?

Consumer Reports has found that millions of smart TVs can be controlled by hackers exploiting easy to-find security flaws. The problems affect Samsung televisions, along with models made by TCL and other brands that use the Roku TV smart-TV platform, as well as streaming devices such as the Roku Ultra.

Two-thirds of business R&D employees in the U.S. were scientists, engineers or R&D managers, and the remainder were technicians or other support staff.

"There are two things that I have heard small-business owners say repeatedly: The first is, they never have enough time. And the second is, 'Where did I file that?'" said Glenn Muske, NDSU extension rural and agribusiness enterprise development specialist.
